It’s been almost eight months since the death of Mahsa Amini sparked a women-led revolution in Iran.
And despite media outlets reducing their coverage in recent times, the regime’s treatment towards women hasn’t changed, with The Guardian reporting that “Iran’s judiciary chief threatened to prosecute “without mercy” women who appear in public unveiled” yesterday, following two women who were attacked by yoghurt for not covering their hair in public.
Having fled Iran in 2000, director Naghmeh Pour‘s short film Iran-e Man (ایران من) is both a deeply personal, meditative journey, evoking notions of classic Iranian cinema, as well as promoting PAIRI DAEZA’s Woman Life Freedom Charity Project. A scarf collection aimed at turning a symbol of suppression into a symbol of empowerment and independence, in collaboration with twelve Iranian artists from all over the world: Ardeshir Tabrizi, Arghavan Khosravi, Hana Shahnavaz, Hanieh Ghashghaei, Mahboubeh Absalan, Maryam Keyhani, Maryam Sefati, Mona Danesh, Rahiilzz, Sara Emami, Tala Madani and Yasaman Rezaee.
Each artist has created a unique design, incorporating messages related to the current revolution in Iran, with the hope that these messages would travel through places and keep alive the conversation about this women-led revolution.
All profit from sales of the scarves will go to Abdorrahman Boroumand Center, to support the movement in Iran.
