Having graduated in Fine Art from our beloved Cornwall many moons ago, we’ve known about Charlotte Keates for quite some time now and couldn’t help falling in love with her previous exhibition Sojourn, inspired by a 6 month road trip around the USA and Canada.

Her latest exhibition entitled ‘The Kennedy Trip’, is comprised of nearly 50 vivid paintings of 1960s and 70s-inspired houses, lush palm trees and placid swimming pools — depictions loosely based on a set of vintage Kodachrome slides documenting the holiday of an American family in the 1960s. Keates’s paintings echo the aesthetic of vintage Florida and California, with a nod to modern mid-century design and interiors.

Our very own Robin Pailler recently spent an afternoon with Charlotte in her home studio in London, producing this short two minute Super 8mm clip documenting her inspiration & creative process.

Charlotte is currently showcasing ‘The Kennedy Trip’ with Arusha Gallery at PULSE Contemporary Art Fair, Miami Beach. You can view her work at Stand S-215
