Director Curtis Essel‘s latest work is an insight into the master flagmaker preserving the Ghanaian Fante culture’s rich past.

In Ghana’s Cape Coast, Baba Issaka, custodian of the Fante Asafo Flags, discusses the history and heritage of the Fante Asafo Flags and the need to carry the tradition forward into the future.

Beautifully shot and edited, Essel’s short doc is a poignant tribute to a country celebrating 64 years of independence and manages to explore Ghana’s colonial history, Baba’s experiences with friends lost to alcoholism and the entitlement of today’s youth.
