Wasted Talent FM #24: Guillem Cruells

If you, like us, are based in Southern Europe, you’ve probably noticed a rather radical change in the current weather and most crucially mercury inside your thermometer.

From Copenhagen to Barcelona, Lisbon and even our little corner of South-West France, summer has quite clearly shown the tip of its nose, and we couldn’t be happier about it. With the past few months being synonym of never-ending restrictions, social distancing and non-existence of cultural happenings (unless you live in Miami), it seems like the following few months should be a bit of a welcomed break.

In celebration of such a fine time, we thought we’d share a playlist elaborated by our great friend Guillem Cruells. Guillem has been part of Wasted Talent since day one. Shit even before the whole thing was even named Wasted Talent! Cruella, like most of us call him, is quite simply a brilliant filmmaker, and like every great filmmaker, his taste in music is impeccable. Ranging from introspective tracks from Boards of Canada & Nils Frahm to bangers from Yung Lean & Rojuu, this playlist is a true reflection of Guillem’s textured filmmaking style.

Needless to say that when this little gem and the accompanying 35mm gold ended in our inbox, we couldn’t help but share it with you. May it be the soundtrack of our newly (re)acquired freedom. Whether you play it during your next road trip, beach-day, lake-day, or simply at home enjoying the sunshine, we hope it brings you this dose of warmth we’ve been missing oh so much.

(Ed note – We also plan to go to Primavera sound in 2022 together on blagged press passes and get very, very sendy indeed. More to follow…)
